New Features to Make Facebook Admins' Life Easier

3/23/2022

Facebook has just announced more features for group admins, such as:
  • automatically declining incoming posts identified as containing false information by third-party fact-checkers.
  • automated criteria selection to reduce admin workload and efficiently manage groups while trying to grow  them with your relevant audience.

Facilitating and nurturing healthy interactions in their communities is the main role and goal of Facebook group admins. These new features introduced by Facebook this month are meant to help you keep and grow you group in a safe way, while managing your admin tasks more efficiently.

Keeping groups safe and reducing misinformation

Safe self expression and sharing of accurate information are critical to the success of a Facebook group.
As a Facebook Group Admin, you can now adjust your group setting to automatically decline incoming posts that have contain false information, as rated by third-party fact-checkers. That means your group memebers won't see the false post at all, reducing the likelihood of misinformation.

It's not about censoring a particular group member, it's about the discourse on track.
So what was before a 'mute' option, now it's a 'suspend' function where owners of posts that have been verified as false can not longer post, comment, react, participate in a chat, or create or enter a room in the group, for as long as the admin chooses.

Other new tools have been added to help you manage your group from the Admin Home, featuring:
  1. An overview page on desktop to quickly review things that need attention
  2. A layout update to sort and search tasks
  3. An insights summary on mobile to help understand the growth and engagement of your group

One of the most important and time-reducing new feature is automatically approving or declining of member requests based on specific criteria defined by you. You can select your preferred criteria, such as the age of the account or whether the prospective member answered the membership questions. This is mean to help you manage member requests easier.

Two new tools to grow Facebook groups

As a group Admin, you can now share a link to your group using a QR code.
  1. You can either copy and paste or download it from the Share menu and share it in promotional materials (such as on a poster). Prospective members can scan the unique barcode with their mobile device and be taken straight to your group, where they’ll be able to join or request to join.
  2. You can send invites via email for people to join your group. Previously, you had to already be friends with that user, which was restrictive in terms of growth potential. Now, anyone with an email can be invited to join, allowing admins to more easily expand group membership.
